Mental Movement Group
Group therapeutic movement class to increase mind-body connection.
Using a combination of healing arts, Mental Movement is a way to access our full selves in the context of mental well-being. Practices include the eight limbs of yoga (disciplines, postures, breath control, sensory focus, concentration, meditation), traditional seasonal rituals grounded in eco-therapy, physical energy release and attunement, emotion regulation, education about mind and body. Sessions focus on mindfulness-based mind-body practices including yogic asana postures, walking meditation, six-senses focus, visualization, sensory exploration, stretching and more. A way to foster a deeper connection with your physical body and your emotional and cognitive landscape, movement is a way for us to prepare for stillness and connecting to resources to help us sit with experiences of trauma and mental health concerns. Blankets and bolsters will be provided, feel free to bring your own yoga mat if you like. Studio opens at 5:30p, class begins at 5:45p and ends at 7:00p every Thursday. Ages 15 and up.
